Step by step

How does the onion peeling line work?

Step 1 - Feeding the onions:

The storage bunker VBK offers the perfect solution for efficient storage and supply of onions, while also functioning as a buffer in your processing line. Optionally available is a level sensor to automatically control supply to the line and a sand catcher for optimal product quality. From this controlled supply, the onions are then transported to the first cleaning step.

Step 2 - Peeling the onions:

The onions are taken from the infeed reception hopper by a separator conveyor and placed on the holders of the conveyor belt after that they are manually rotated into the correct position. Subsequently, rotating blades cut the onions at the top and tail, after which incisions are made at the front and rear. During the peeling process, the onion is cut around and the outer skin is removed using air-saving technology, resulting in low energy consumption and a high-quality end product. The onion peeling machine USM-H100 is also very easy to adjust and highly accessible for simple cleaning.

Step 3 - Inspecting the onions:

Subsequently, the peeled onions proceed to the roller inspection table RLT-L. This facilitates visual inspection by rotating products 360 degrees via spiral-shaped transport rollers. Side-mounted waste chutes ensure efficient rejection handling. Only the onions that meet the quality requirements proceed to the next phase.

Step 4 - Treating the onions

After approval during inspection, the onions reach the dip tank DT, which is used to submerge the onions for a period of time. Additives can be added to the dip tank. The residence time of the onions can be adjusted from 5 to 1 minute using a frequency controller. The dip tank is optional in the line. The configuration can also be executed without a dip tank.

Step 5 – Weighing the onions:

Finally, the process is completed with the weighing machine AFW. The touchscreen offers complete control over fill weight, parameters and recipes with automatic speed adjustment for accurate weighing. The modular infeed belt and 25-liter weighing bucket ensure efficient cyclical processing up to ±15 kg per cycle, successfully completing the entire processing operation.
